Chartres, intérieur cathédrale (post préparé avant le WE, en prévision ;-)

Pas beaucoup de lumière à l'intérieur...

et pas envie d'utiliser le flash dans un lieu de recueillement...

Ça donne surtout beaucoup de photos ratées.

Les vitraux, comme la rosace centrale ici, ne s'en sortent tout compte fait pas si mal...

Par contre, les magnifiques décors intérieurs sont tous flous.

Allez un dernier essai un peu moins mauvais que les autres...

On notera que l'orfèvrerie et les pierres précieuses rendent très bien...

Comme quoi, un petit coffre à relique, c'est toujours utile... ;-)

Vous voyez le bout de tissu blanc à l'intérieur ? les explications sont là... et vous ne serez pas sans remarquer la formulation conditionnelle utilisée ici....

Your translation is great but the first sentence contains some quite specific french tense that is called 'conditionel' so it means : 'this relic box contains a veil that was revered as the one carried by the Virgin Mary'.... there is a hint of doubt flying there...........

This is my best english translation of the relic...

"This relic was carried by the Virgin Mary. The relic was given to King Charlemagne by Empress Irene of Byzantium under the imperial seal of Constantinople. The relic has been in the Cathedrale of Chartres since 876."

I am not very good in my French history. However, I am very familiar with Charlemagne. I think he was the strongest ruler in the Meroviginan dynasty that started with Clovis almost 300 years earlier. The only other King I remember hearing about was Charles 'The Hammer' Martel.

You can correct my history if I am wrong. I am not trained to think much earlier than 1867 in Canada. 1867 is our official birthday and we are very "young" and naive... :-)
